Genesis of Fashion Week

World-renowned fashion shows typically last a week, which is why they are known as fashion weeks. Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week are some of the most important and popular fashion shows in the world, which are held twice a year for the cold and hot seasons, and the most famous brands of clothes, jewelry, bags and shoes can be seen among them. These two fashion shows, along with Milan Fashion Week and London Fashion Week, are the four major events in the fashion world.

Planning Fashion Shows

In a typical fashion show, the models wear the clothes that are to be introduced and walk in front of the spectators, although in some fashion shows, the models may be standing or sitting. The order in which the models enter the stage, that is the way models walk, stand or sit and what each model wears, shows the message the designer intends, and as a result, these are all determined by the designer. In fact, fashion is an opportunity for a designer to have an insight, present or share what he has in mind with his audience.

History of Fashion Shows

Although the exact date of the world’s first fashion show is not known, in the 18th century, fashion parades were first held in Paris by Parisian tailors. In the early years of the 19th century, American productions launched their first fashion show in New York City. In such shows, which were mostly for women, you could find models of French ball gowns or American copies of it. In the 1920s, fashion shows were spread all over America. These fashion shows were more like theatre shows, they had a theme and a narrator who narrated the story.

Start of Modern Fashion Shows

In the 1970s and 1980s, American designers decided to separate their shows from the events held by clothing manufacturers and take them to a more private space. This became a popular strategy in the 1990s. After the violent targeting of several fashion shows held in unsafe places, all the fashion shows merged into an event held in New York, and the first modern fashion week took shape.

Fashion Week 2021 Review

Due to the outbreak of the Corona virus and the height of the crisis at the beginning of New York Fashion Week, strict rules were set for the non-performance of fashion shows, allowing many designers to film their collections and very few to present their collections on physical shows.
