The concept of Fast Fashion
You are probably familiar with the term “fast fashion”. Fast fashion refers to clothing companies that make more profit with fast and staggering production and of course with low prices. They offer in the shortest possible time (maximum two weeks) in stores and shops. In other words, cheap, trendy clothes or copies of coats are called fast fashion, which become shops clothes very fast. If we want to have a more accurate definition of fast fashion, we must say that this term means the prevalence of style and model of clothes and styles that are not very expensive.
The Root of Fast Fashion
Before the 1800s, the speed of the fashion world was very slow. Companies and clothing brands had to make their own raw materials, such as textiles. But the Industrial Revolution changed everything under its shadow. In the late 1990s and early 2000s and beyond, fast fashion was led by companies such as Zara. Inspired by the clothes and style of celebrities and mannequins of world-renowned fashion houses, these companies quickly introduced cheap clothes to the market and delivered them to buyers in large quantities. Fashion changed very quickly and spread amazingly all over the world.
What is the Main Purpose of Fast Fashion?
Creating a sense of need. Media, advertising, celebrities, social networks, and etc. affect everyone in general, and for example, when you see your friends, you also tend to move forward with fashion. Fast fashion is created to do that, i.e to save money. Two factors of correct and principled management in the fields of production and sales, cause the victory and progress of fast fashion. Large business partnerships are also one of the important reasons for the development of fast fashion. Business partnerships, which is to maximize sales and profits by meeting customer needs and customer satisfaction, is called the strategic management of the production group. Price stability and non-bankruptcy depend on the unity of producers and their cooperation.
Differences between Fast Fashion and Mass Production
The differences between fast fashion and mass production can be said that clothing design is very important in fast fashion and should be designed according to different seasons so that we have a catwalk store. While in mass production, there is no design and clothing design, and even a design may be used and produced for years, but in fast fashion, we see outdated design sooner. In terms of cost, fast fashion is more expensive than mass production, and this difference is due to fast fashion being more updated to current trends.
The Negative Effects of Fast Fashion in the World
The negative effects of the world’s fast fashion are much different and more than you might think. There is the use of cheap and low quality materials and of course carcinogenic dyes. These cheap and low quality raw materials return to nature and create new environmental pollution. Nylon and plastics, which are the main materials used in the fabric of the fast fashion industry, are made from fossil fuels. These fuels increase greenhouse gases and pollute water and agricultural lands. Workers who work for well-known brands and companies receive low wages and work in environments that are below standard in terms of safety and comfort. It seems that fast fashion can be considered as one of the examples of slavery in this era.
The Main Brands of Fast Fashion Operators
Most of the brands that are the mainstay of the fast fashion world today, Zara or H&M, started in the small stores in the 1950s. H&M is the oldest brand in the field of fast fashion products. Some other fast fashion brands are: Benetton, Forever 21, New Look, H&M, Zara, Esprit, Pull & Bear, and… .
Copy of Professional Works
In the fashion world, there is no law for copyright designers. Fast-fashion brands such as Zara, H&M, Mango, and others easily copy and produce luxury brand designs. There are no ways to copyright the designs and manufacturers can easily copy designs and produce with much lower quality.
